Yesterday, Drummond juniors and seniors attended the second annual Flint Creek Exploration Day at Granite County High School. This event is focused on bringing career opportunities specifically to Granite County students through connections with local businesses, professionals, nonprofits, government officials, and local colleges. By giving students more personal one-on-one experiences, our goal is to spark interest and create a generation more knowledgeable about the world of work.

We would like to thank the following vendors for taking time out of their schedules to work with our students:

- Job Corps
- Southwest Carpenters Union
- Sheet Metal Union
- IBEW 233
- Dick Anderson Construction

I realized I never shared an update on our choir festival! 😬 Since this was our first year back, we chose to perform for comments only, so no official score was given - but it was an incredibly valuable experience. Despite some nerves and the challenge of performing in a very large theater without microphones, our student sang beautifully. We had the privilege of working with Dr. Hirner and Barbara Tapa, both of whom had wonderful feedback for our group. They complemented the strength and blended sound of our treble section (soprano and alto) as well as our bass section - which, by the way, was the largest they had seen all day! Through their guidance, our students were able to produce a full, resonant sound that carried all the way to the back of the theater. This experience was exactly what we needed to energize us as we head into the final stretch of preparation for our spring concert. A special congratulations to Macey Anderson, who performed a vocal solo. She sang "The Prayer" and did an outstanding job. While the adjudicator noted that she could project more confidence in her posture, she praised her beautiful tone and performance overall, awarding her a 1- Superior Rating and a spot at the state music festival in Helena this Saturday. I am incredibly proud of these students and the growth they've shown this year. They represented themselves, our school, and our community with pride - true Trojans fashion. We would love your support as Macey heads to state this weekend and we hope to see you all at our spring concert on May 14! ~*~Mrs. Anderson ~*~

MORE PROM INFORMATION:

Decorating
Students wanting to participate in decorating can arrive to the Buckle Barn at 11:00 am on Friday, 4/24. They should expect to be there until 1:00 pm (at the latest). No need to return to The Ranch to undecorate the next day - any decor that they want to keep they can take that evening once prom wraps up and our team will break down the rest.

Timeline
5:45 pm parents arrive
6:00 pm the buses arrive (Grand March)
6:30 pm parents depart and dinner is served
8:00 pm dinner concludes
Dancing until 11:00 pm

Arrival to The Ranch for Parents
Please reference the map attached for directions to the Buckle Barn. You will take Skalkaho road for 12 miles until you turn right onto a dirt road called Rock Creek Road. From there, stay on Rock Creek Road for about 2 miles until you reach headgate on the east side of the road (NOT the one with the metal sign reading "The Ranch at Rock Creek"). Drive under the headgate, once over the driving bridge stay to the left then take an immediate right. This will take you past the Rod & Gun Club on the left and around a loop towards the Buckle Barn. When the Buckle Barn is below you to the right, you will encounter a Ranch employee; they will direct you where to park and walk down to the Buckle Barn.

APRIL 15th, 2026, is ACT Testing Day for Drummond Juniors!

This ACT test is the state-mandated test provided by Montana OPI. Each student tests for free on April 15th at our school.

What do you need to know?

SLEEP - Students will need adequate sleep the night before the test. Limit screen time and encourage a healthy bedtime.

NUTRITION - Students will need to eat a healthy dinner (no junk food) and at least a small breakfast. The test only allows for scheduled breaks, and students cannot eat during test times.

RESULTS - Results are usually available 3-4 weeks after the test. Results will be provided using the MyACT.org account first, and a notification will be sent via email. Students must sign up for this with the school counselor. Results will also be mailed and uploaded.

RETAKES - all students are encouraged to retake the test if they are not happy with their results. This testing date is free through the state, but any retakes must be scheduled and PAID for by the student/student's family.

Why take the test seriously?

While ACT scores are not necessarily tied to college admissions, they are tied closely to class placement, scholarship, and qualification for accelerated resources. Basically, a good ACT score opens doors, so please take it seriously.

If you have any questions about the ACT, please email slarson@drummondschool.net
