UPDATE:
The staff at Drummond School, along with community members and the greater community of Drummond have been working to support Tena and Jim in this time of need.
The Drummond/Philipsburg/Deer Lodge/Helmville and other surrounding communities have been truly incredible in their willingness to help in any way that has been necessary. Although recovery from this event with be difficult and lengthy, the support that has been received thus far is truly amazing and greatly appreciated.
A fund has been established at Citizens Alliance Bank in Drummond. Donations can be mailed directly to this fund, "Tena Popken Relief Fund" ℅ Citizens Alliance Bank, PO Box 369, Drummond, MT 59832. Any donation to this fund will go 100% to Tena to help rebuild her home.
We have also helped to establish a Venmo account with funds going directly to Tena Popken. That Venmo account is @tenapopken.
Tena and Jim are still in the process of securing housing. They both have been offered some options for short term solutions. Thank you to all who have offered rooms and homes, and have opened their doors to their neighbors in need.
If more needs arise, we will update that here. Thank you again to the Drummond School, the Drummond and surrounding communities for the incredible support you have shown Tena and Jim at this time. #WeAreDrummond!

This morning, our staff member and long-time resident of Drummond, Tena Popken lost her home and all of her belongings to a house fire.
We know many of her colleagues, friends, family, and community members will be wanting to help. At this time we are working with Valley Fire Department to coordinate these efforts. All donations can be dropped off at the Drummond School today until 5pm. We are asking that donations at this time be limited to monetary donations as Tena and Jim have not yet secured housing. As we continue to support Tena and Jim, we will update on this post what they may need.
We have staff members procuring clothing, personal hygiene items, pet food, and other immediate needs.
We want to thank Valley Fire for their tremendous efforts this morning.
Please contact Superintendent Dean Phillips, 406-288-4103, or Valley Fire Chief Sean O'Connor, 406-949-0468 for any questions regarding donations and donation drop off.
Again, donations can be dropped off at this time at the school until 5pm this evening. Updates will be posted on our media pages as they occur. Thank you all for your incredible support. #WeAreDrummond

We will be sharing in a few posts some of the work that was done over the summer months. Our staff of three and a student helper worked hard this summer to get our school in shape for this school year. First, we spruced up the parking lot/playground areas by sealing the asphalt, painting some fresh lines, and adding a whole bunch of rubberized mulch to the areas. It sure made things look fresh and will help keep everyone safe this year! Thanks to Tim Berzinger, Craig Roper, Jennifer Wagy, and Kaiden Huberg. #WeAreDrummond!
